The company was founded in 2006 as Global View Sustainability Services Ltd (GVSS), by Dr. Dorothy Maxwell, a sustainability practitioner with over 20 years international experience. In 2015 we rebranded to The Sustainable Business Group to better reflect our growing activities and how sustainability has evolved. Our team credentials are outlined below.

Dorothy has over 20 years professional experience working in the environmental / sustainability arena in business, government and consultancy in Europe, USA and Asia Pacific. A specialist in sustainable business, her core competencies include Sustainable Consumption & Production (SCP), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Ecodesign, Resource and Waste Management, Eco-labeling, Green Supply Chain Management, Sustainable Procurement, Natural Capital and Corporate Reporting. Dorothy has a Masters in Environmental Economics & Law and PhD in Environmental Science from Imperial College London. Brian has a Master’s degree in information systems design and management, a Bachelor of science in computer science and a Bachelor of arts in environment, oceanography and archaeology. He has spent 26 years working for large blue chip companies in the Information Technology, Telecommunications, Finance and Professional Services sectors for companies such as HP, Dell Computers, Fujitsu-ICL and Project Management Group. Brian brings a hybrid synergy of business acumen and sustainability to bear across many streams. Brian is an avid scuba diver (commercial and sport), maritime archaeologist and holds a Nautical Archaeology Society Part IV diploma.

Laure has over 10 years experience in environmental and project management roles focusing on environmental law, energy & resource efficiency, waste & recycling, eco-design & product policy, sustainable clothing, green economy, environmental behaviour change, impact assessments and climate change adaptation and mitigation. Projects have been conducted in Europe and Asia for clients including UNDP, UK Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), European Commission (EC), Aid by Trade Foundation, International Energy Agency and British Retail Consortium. Previous roles include being a Policy Advisor for Defra on Sustainable Consumption and Production, Waste and Energy-using Products (EuP/ERP);a Research Analyst at Trucost Plc producing CSR and investor reports; Oxfam and EDF Energy Paris.

Jonas is an alumnus of United Nations University with a PhD in environmental economics and has fifteen years professional experience in Life Cycle Assessment, full cost sustainability accounting and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) in sectors including chemical, IT, buildings, food, energy and consumer products. Key projects include ecodesign of packaging and chemical services; IPPC and Waste Management Licensing, LCA and Carbon Footprinting to support EU Ecolabel, Green Public Procurement, PAS2050, WBCSD/WRI Corporate Reporting and Product Supply chain standards. He has been a Research Analyst with FTSE for Good on green finance.

An environmental and sustainability specialist with two decades of professional experience in the areas of sustainable energy; climate change , carbon footprinting & management. Paula has a PhD in climate change chemistry from the University of Oxford, as well as a Masters degree in Information Science from City University, London. Paula has worked in the academic, public, charitable, governmental and corporate sectors over her career to include at Forum for the Future, the Energy Saving Trust and currently Paula Owen Consulting. She is the architect of the first official UK government’s carbon calculator for the domestic sector – the Act on CO2 Calculator and the author of milestone energy/climate change publications The Rise of the Machines, Ampere Strikes Back and Elephant in the Living Room.

With an MSc in environmental science Martin has ten years experience primarily focusing on sustainable behaviour change in business and consumers. He has worked in the USA and EU on capacity building training in business and government to drive behaviour change on systems thinking, industrial ecology/closed loop techniques as well as sustainable procurement and supply chain management.

Anna McKenna has been the Administration Manager since 2006 and has over ten years management experience. Her focus is project management support, governance, events, training and contract management.
